A partnership has been established between the Library and the Texas State Library for a Texshare Database Program. This program will help computer users to find more accurate information on business, health, literature, current events, science, history, education, newspapers, magazines and electronic books. Anyone who has a library card can access this information from their home computer. To learn more about this database and get the password and login name, please come by the Library. A mini one-hour class will be held in August on how to use the database. To register for the class, please call the Library at 903-322-4146. The database sites can also be located on the Library’s Services Section.

History of Buffalo Public Library

The Buffalo Public Library was established in 1971. A group of scholarly ladies formed a non-profit organization called "The Friends of the Buffalo Public Library" to establish a public library in the Buffalo community. This original Library was located on Railroad Street in the 'Old Lyons Hotel'.

In 1983 the Champion Mobil Home Company built a custom mobile house for the Library. The Library moved into this new facility located on the corner of Fairfield Street and Main Street. This building was donated to the City of Marquez for a library when the City of Buffalo constructed the present building in 1992 on North I-45 Frontage Road. Two expansions to this building have been made since that time. The present Library has 3,000 square feet of space.

The Buffalo Public Library, the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, the Buffalo Community Center and the Buffalo Senior Citizens Center form a combined center located on North I-45 Frontage Road.
