The City of Buffalo manages the water and sewer systems and contracts out the garbage disposal services. It provides billing services for these three utilities.

Water and Sewer Services:
All City residential and business customers pay each month for water used.

Residential – 1st 2,000 gallons $15.00 (water) $14.00 (sewer)

Per 1,000 gallons after 1st 2,000 gallons $4.00 (water) $2.40 (sewer)
Commercial – 1st 2,000 gallons $17.00 (water) $17.00 (sewer)
Per 1,000 gallons after 1st 2,000 gallons $4.36 (water) $2.63 (sewer)

Residential sewer gallons charged – Maximum 10,000 gallons
Commercial sewer charged for all gallons used with no cut-off

Garbage Service:
All monthly residential charge for garbage pickup is $7.48 or $10.61 with a cart. This service is contracted with Olympic Waste. There is one pickup per week per account. Monday or Tuesday, depending on location of customer. If you live east of Hwy 75, pickup day is Monday.
If you live west of Hwy 75, pickup day is Tuesday. Garbage must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m. Standard size garbage cans may be used or garbage containers supplied by Olympic Waste. Garbage must be bagged. Only household garbage is accepted.

Commercial garbage service vary, depending upon number of bags to be picked up. Small - $10.10; Medium - $17.04; Large - $23.55.

Payment Methods:
The City of Buffalo accepts payments for water/sewer/garbage only at Buffalo City Hall. Payments may be made by the following methods:

  • Regular mail: P. O. Box 219, Buffalo, Texas 75831
  • Drive Through: Window located at City Hall at 144 Avant Street. Open Monday through Friday, except some designated holidays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • After Hours/Night Depository – Located at the drive-through window on the side of the City Hall Building.

Payment Due Dates:
Utility customers have twenty (20) days from the date the bill is mailed to pay the balance due on their account without penalty. The date payment is due is noted on each bill you receive. Any due date falling on a weekend or holiday will be extended to the following business day. Please be aware that payments not received by the due date are subject to a late fee. Late fees are assessed on the day after the due date. Late fees are 10% of the past due balance. Payment is accepted in the form of cash, check, or money order.

Service will be disconnected only if payment has not been received within twenty-five (25) days following the date the bill was mailed to the address of record. Disconnection of service occurs on the twenty-sixth (26) day of non-payment of a past due account. The amount past due plus a reconnect fee of $25.00 will be due in order to restore service. Any service that is reconnected after hours will be charged $25.00 extra.

Deposit Fees:
- Residental Homeowner - $50.00
- Residental Homeowner 65 and over - $50.00
- Residental Renter - $100.00
- Commercial - $150.00

Fire Protection:
The Buffalo Voluntary Fire Department provides fire protection for Buffalo.
